Shavuot (שָׁבוּעוֹת in Hebrew, also pronounced Shavuos) is the holiday that celebrates the wheat harvest and commemorates the date when G‑d gave the Torah to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai. Preceded by 49 days of counting The Omer (which began the second night of Passover), Shavuot is celebrated through candle-lit dinners, staying up all night to study Torah, listening to the reading of the Ten Commandments and The Book of Ruth, enjoying dairy foods and flowers.
